About

The “Ukrainian Regionalism” research initiative has united historians, sociologists, anthropologists, economists, literary critics and linguists from Ukraine, Poland, Switzerland, Austria, Russia, Germany, Romania and the USA – both well-known experts and emerging young scholars. Growing qualitative and quantitative database has been collected to analyze recent dynamic changes in the Ukrainian society. Two larger projects “Region, nation and beyond” and “Transcultural contact zones in Ukraine” as well as a number of smaller sub-projects are implemented collaboratively since 2012. The common denominator of these projects and working groups is their focus on regionalism that is believed to have significant influence on political cultures, identities, historical memory, economy and religion in Ukraine. The project is financially supported by the State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI , Swiss National Science Foundation and the Wolodymyr George Danyliw Foundation.
